Being the only Deaf person in her family and after giving birth to a Deaf baby as well as a hearing baby whose native language is American Sign Language (ASL), Sheena felt something was missing from the internet. A place where everyone is welcome to learn ASL.
Finding her inspiration from Food Network Channel and through her frustrations growing up in a family that does not sign, ASL Nook came alive in 2013. Since that day, everything changed! Little did Sheena’s family know that it would have such a profound impact on people especially with hearing families raising Deaf children. ASL Nook is also for friends, hearing children, teachers, and co-workers. Our audience grew to where ASL classes – both high schools and universities – are using them as a part of their instruction.
Each episode is only a few minutes making the show ideal for anyone on the go. At our nook, our viewers will have the opportunity to learn many new signs such as the alphabet, feelings, animals, holidays, and beyond.
We welcome you to visit ASL Nook, where you get hooked on ASL, through our website and Facebook page!
